A couple of weeks ago we were looking at idyllic locations to buy property and settle down in North Yorkshire and this week we are just down the road in the Yorkshire county of West Yorkshire, located in the region of Yorkshire and the Humber.
West Yorkshire was established in 1974 and shares its borders with Derbyshire to the south, Greater Manchester to the south-west, Lancashire to the north-west, North Yorkshire to the north and to the east and South Yorkshire to the south-east.
Otley, West Yorkshire
Otley is a beautiful market town with a population of 13,668, located in the heart of the Wharfdale Valley, surrounded by beautiful scenery which is in the catchment area for a number of brilliant schools. With a large amount of independent shops, bakers, butchers and traditional Yorkshire pubs, Otley is quintessentially a market town, full of activities, liveliness and unrivalled scenery, making it the perfect location to live if you are looking for an idyllic lifestyle.
Horsforth, West Yorkshire
Horsforth is located to the north west of Leeds and has a population of 18,895 as per the 2011 census. The town is in a great location, just a short 10 minute drive from the city centre of Leeds but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. It makes a brilliant location for anyone who is looking to live outside of the city but still wants to live close enough to commute. Horsforth has a great reputation for being home to some great schools as well having an incredible amount of community spirit too, combined with a huge amount of activities for all ages. There are a number of pubs, restaurants, coffee shops and shopping opportunities.
Marsden, West Yorkshire
The village of Marsden is located 7 miles west of Huddersfield and has a population of 3,499 as recorded on the 2001 census. The Marsden Moor Estate, which surrounds the town across three sides, is taken care of by the National Trust and has a number of beautiful walks in the area. With a number of community activities, Marsden is a thriving town which hosts a number of festivals and cultural events throughout the year.
West Yorkshire benefits from beautiful countryside, quaint and idyllic villages and towns along with proximity to some larger cities such as Leeds and Manchester. A flat or maisonette in West Yorkshire sells on average for £128,891 while a terraced property costs around £162,931. A semi-detached property is worth £191,819 while a detached property sells on average for £302,247.
