Getting maximum space for your money is often one of the top priorities when people look to buy or rent a home. However, in some areas, more space commands a higher premium, so compromises have to be made.
That said, even if you have lots of ‘things’ around the home, whether that’s clothing bursting out of your wardrobes or more Tupperware than you shake a stick at. With some clever storage hacks, you can make these areas more manageable and declutter your life in the long-term.
If you’re low on storage space, check out these handy tips to free up more room and organise your home.
1. Use organisers in your wardrobe
One of the first things you should consider is having a clear out of old clothing. Once you have completed this, then you can take stock of what you have. If you don’t have tons of space in your bedroom for a huge wardrobe, then opt for a fabric hanging organiser to incorporate some shelving space. You could also consider adding another pole to hang clothing, with tops above and skirts and trousers below.
2. Use clear boxes in cupboards
There’s nothing worse than looking for something and having to pull the entire contents of the cupboard out to find it. By using clear boxes, you can organise everything into different areas to see it easily. Boxes can also be stacked, which utilises cupboard space more effectively.
3. Hang your bicycle
If you use your bike to commute to work and don’t have any outside space to store it, hang it up. Leaving a bicycle in a hallway or living area takes up valuable space, and you’re likely to bump into it all the time. There is a range of bicycle racks that can be used in your home, and not only do they get them up and out the way, they can also be incorporated into the décor or prints on your wall.
4. Get a bed with drawers
Beds take up a lot of space so utilising this area as much as possible will give you tons of storage to play with. Your bed may already come with drawers but if you have an empty space under there; fill it. A great way to do this is by investing in some wide storage boxes. These replicate drawers, and you can put store anything from bed linen to last season’s clothing. Some also come with small wheels to make them easy to push in and out.
5. Install a tension rod under your sink
The cupboard under the sink is notoriously used for cleaning products, and as there’s not a great deal of space under there, it can get unorganised quickly. If you want to make the most of the cupboard and find everything easily, install a tension rod under the sink to hang your cleaning products. By hanging the bottles, this makes room underneath for small baskets to store your brushes, cleaning clothes and smaller products.
These are just a few ways to make the most of the space in your home, and organise your property for a stress-free lifestyle.
